Meet Madisyn

Madisyn started her ceramics journey in high school. She has been creating since 2017. She started out as a graphic design major at Kansas State but soon found her calling in the clay studio. She switched majors and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in ceramics and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. At Kansas State is where she also found her love for squirrels.

Madisyn enjoys creating anthropomorphic imagery featuring squirrels. She uses a technique called sgraffito to carve in every detail. She also enjoys atmospheric firings such as wood, soda, and raku. She is drawn to these types of firings due to their distinctive surfaces and one of a kind decoration. You can always find her at the wheel.

Meet Southpaw Squirrel

During her time at K-State, Madisyn enjoyed walking to class. On her walks she would see an abundance of squirrels. She would stop just to watch them scurry around and eat nuts. She then kept a bag of peanuts in her bag to feed the squirrels.

These squirrel encounters inspired her sgraffito imagery. People now associate Madisyn with squirrels and think about her every time they see one.
